New England Association of Schools and Colleges
Commission on American and International Schools Abroad (CAISA)

7th Edition and Reports

For a number of years the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) collaborated closely in the task of evaluating American/International schools in many countries world-wide. For much of that time a joint evaluation protocol was in use, the most recent being the Sixth Edition of the ECIS/NEASC Guide.

On 1st July 2003 ECIS underwent re-structuring, and responsibility for its Accreditation Service passed to the newly formed Council of International Schools (CIS). However the rationale and modus operandi of the Accreditation Service remained intact, as did its close collaboration with NEASC. In recognition of past collaboration and the smooth transition from ECIS to CIS, the title “Seventh Edition” was chosen for this CIS/NEASC Guide even though this is the first time that CIS as a new entity has formally collaborated with NEASC.

This latest edition of the Guide, which is designed for introduction into schools on a progressive basis from September 2003 onwards, contains many excellent features which have evolved from previous editions of the ECIS/NEASC Guide as well as a number of changes of emphasis and technical improvements to make it an even more effective document.

Please note that the information regarding the international opinion surveys ( Part One of the 7th Edition Institutional Guide - page 18 ) has been revised.
