NCCT is the abbreviation of the National Center for School Curriculum & Textbook Development, a non-governmental agency affiliated to the Ministry of Education in China.  Established in 1998, NCCT is engaged in nation-wide study, development and assessment of school curricula, textbooks and related professional work.  It remains the only accreditation-related agency approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education to enact a process for schools seeking both international and Chinese accreditation.  As such, it is responsible for addressing accreditation tasks regarding ‘Schools for Children of Foreign Nationals.’  An accreditation process was approved in 2002 including a formal partnership with international accreditation agencies, following initial discussions held with NEASC beginning in 2001.
