Commission on American and International Schools Abroad (CAISA)

About Us

The Commission on American and International Schools Abroad (CAISA) is the overseas accrediting arm of the New England Association of Schools & Colleges, Inc. located in Bedford, MA USA

The Commission is headed by CAISA Director, Brinton "Pete" Woodward, and CAISA Chair, Carl Stasio, Headmaster of Thornton Academy in Saco, Maine.

The Commission consists of 18 members who serve CAISA by gathering four times a year to review visiting team reports for contined and initial accreditation, along with progress reports,  five year-reports, special reports and preliminary and preparatory reports.    All reports that affect our candidate and accredited schools go before the commission for their input, discussion and decision.  If the report is for candidacy, initial accreditation or continued accreditation, the decision of the commission is then referred to the NEASC Board of Trustees for their action.

CAISA has a full database of trained, volunteer- evaluators to carry out the work of the Commission and fill the teams that visit our schools to evaluate them against our standards for accreditation.
